Little stars.

After making the baby sweater (last post), the urge to sew something more reappeared. As my boy is starting to outgrow the clothes I made him last year, I started with a sweater. I bought some fleece in our local shop, being there to but pattern paper. Fleece is not my favorite fabric, but easy to handle and suitable for the season. I went for a model in a recent Ottobre (4/2013, # 40, size 134 without seams).
To spruce things up, I added lime trimmings.

I did not line the hood, but used a biastape to conceal the seam.

 

Still experimenting with the best way to make a nice finish. The twin needle did not workout, so I used a honeycomb stitch.

 

And then it turned out to be too tight. :-( .That hardly happens, since the Ottobre patterns are usually quite roomy and my boy is slim. I guess on the whole, the patterns are getting slimmer. At least for pants, so maybe for tops too.

I tried to sell the sweater for 15 euro, but had no reaction so far. I think most people are put off by the fact it’s homemade, or don’t realize that fabric isn’t always cheap. Or maybe it’s not trendy enough for most 7 -8 years old boys, I don’t know.
Anyway, lesson learned and unto another trial.

A little fox.

This is a present I made for a babyboy, a few weeks ago.
As I did not have much time, I searched for a very simple pattern and found it in an old Ottobre (from 2005). The applique was inspired by a fox I saw on a German blog.
The sweater is made from soft French Terry, the applique from velour.

 

Making the sweater really inspired me to spent more time sewing again. So I started making stuff for Pelle again. Keep in touch, you'll see more the following weeks.

Dit is een kraamcadeautje dat ik in december heb gemaakt van groene frotté. Ik zag het vosje op een Duits blog en heb het van velours nagemaakt, met ogen van vilt. Het patroon op zich is heel eenvoudig (uit een oude Ottobre), want meer dan de applicatie had het truitje niet nodig, vond ik. Ik ben ook heel tevreden over de boordjes. Het heeft lang geduurd voordat ik dat een beetje onder de knie had, maar nu zien ze er altijd goed uit, mooi gelijkmatig en strak, zonder dat de andere stof gaat rimpelen. De vruchten van alle T-shirts die ik heb genaaid.

Het truitje heeft me geïnspireerd om na een lange tijd weer kleren voor Pelle te naaien.

Ik ben nu aan het experimenteren met verschillende patronen, om te kijken welke het beste past bij Pelle's lijf en de stoffen die ik nog heb liggen. Daarover de komende tijd meer.
